I'm Molly, your Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Caithness, Sutherland and Ross. I'm running to be your Member of the Scottish Parliament because I want to see real investment in the future of the Highlands.
I'm a Highlander born and bred.
I was raised in Evanton, in Easter Ross. From a young age I was driven to speak out. Whether fundraising for disaster relief efforts or working to improve my primary school, I have always backed up my principles with direct action.
I attended school locally, first at Dingwall Academy and then Plockton Music School. I'm passionate about traditional music — at Plockton I studied fiddle and piano, as well as Scots singing. Ensuring the long-term survival of Gaelic arts and culture is one of my top priorities.
I studied a history degree at Harvard University in the United States, where I was one of only four Scots across the undergraduate population. After graduating I began a career in communications, before returned to Evanton where I live today with my rescue cat Mango. Day-to-day I work with businesses and organisations of all sizes to help them engage with external stakeholders.
I'm pushing for long-term change.
I know firsthand that living and working in the Highlands as a young, working-age adult is not easy. Jobs are few and far between. In many areas, we have no affordable housing. For those who go away for college and university, coming home is not always an option. This needs to change.
